W: The shop promised to have my car ready by 6:30 this evening, and now they are saying tomorrow at 2.
M: Do you need a ride to work today?
W: That would be great, thanks. It's so inconvenient to be without a car.
M: I know. I wish that our city would invest in a good public transportation system.
Câu 41: What does the man offer?
Câu 42: When will the woman's car be ready?
Câu 43: What does the man wish?
W: Why did you decide to paint the office?
M: The walls are so old and stained. Plus, I read somewhere that bright colors have a positive effect on people's work attitudes.
W: Do you have any colors picked out yet?
M: We are deciding among yellow, orange and pink. I am leaning toward yellow, but it's not just my decision.
Câu 44: What is NOT true of the walls as they are now?
Câu 45: Why is the man painting the walls?
Câu 46: What color does the man prefer?
M: You're back? I figured a meeting with the mayor would take much longer than half an hour.
W: I know. He needed to hear about the grave problems our research found.
M: Didn't you explain it to him?
W: I told him about low reading-level scores. However, when I started pointing out how the superintendent could fix the problem, he cut me off.
M: I really expected more from him.
Câu 47: For how long was the woman supposed to meet with the mayor?
Câu 48: What was the purpose of the meeting with the mayor?
Câu 49: What does the man feel toward the mayor?
W: I hate my job. I'm no good at it, I don't care about it at all, and the pay is awful.
M: Weren't you only going to stay for 6 months? It's two years later and you're still there.
W: I know....
M: I think you should just walk away now. You need the fear of not having a job at all to motivate you to find a new one.
W: You're right. I'll give my two weeks' notice right now.
Câu 50: What does the woman NOT mention about her job?
Câu 51: How long has the woman had her job?
Câu 52: What does the man tell the woman?
M: I still haven't heard back from them, so I'm assuming I didn't get it.
W: Don't worry. Employers need time to make a decision. It would be wise to call them though.
M: But I would feel silly if I called and they told me that they were not interested.
Câu 53: What is the man disappointed about?
Câu 54: What does the woman suggest to the man?
Câu 55: What is the man afraid of?
W: Is this new?
M: No. It was Andrew's. But when he moved to the eleventh floor, he didn't feel like hauling it with him. He let me keep it.
W: I could really use a larger desk. I've got a computer, printer, and a fax machine on my desk. And that of course is in addition to the piles of paperwork.
M: I wish I could help you out, but I'm not willing to give it up!
Câu 56: Who paid for the man's desk?
Câu 57: What is NOT on the woman's desk?
Câu 58: What is the man going to do with the desk?
M: After work, do you want to go to that new department store that opened where the golf store used to be? It's right next door to the Burger Joint.
W: Of course!
M: We can take my car, and leave yours in the parking lot here.
W: I'll just drive separately. I have to go straight to a neighborhood meeting at 7:30.
Câu 59: Where does the man want to go?
Câu 60: Who is the man in relation to the woman?
Câu 61: Who will drive?
M: Can your department get by without temporary workers this summer?
W: Probably. We're having a meeting next week, so we can ensure that none of our vacations overlap.
M: We really need to trim the budget. Sales were terrible last quarter.
W: Well, I guarantee you that we will arrange everything for the summer.
M: You are always so committed.
Câu 62: What will the woman's department do this summer?
Câu 63: What does the man want to do?
Câu 64: What is true of the woman?
W: Do you know Ron from the 11th floor?
M: Not well, but we've met at the office parties.
W: We are considering adding him to our team on the seventh floor, but I'm not sure he's got what it takes.
M: Our team is pretty intense. Unfortunately, I don't know Ron well enough to give you an opinion.
W: We really have to find someone soon. The work is adding up.
Câu 65: What is the man's relationship with Ron?
Câu 66: What does the man tell the woman?
Câu 67: What is true of the seventh floor?
M: Look at that line at security! I'll miss my flight!
W: I told you to arrive earlier.
M: Yes, but you know me. I'm always running late.
W: Maybe you should set your clock ahead a few minutes so you'll think you're running late, but when you arrive, you'll actually be right on time.
Câu 68: Where is this conversation talking place?
Câu 69: What is true of the man?
Câu 70: What does the woman suggest?

We are gathered here today to celebrate and pay tribute to Howard Larson, who is retiring from Academy Publishing after forty years of loyal and impeccable service. He started out at a young age working in our bindery department downstairs enduring severe paper cuts and some heavy lifting. After five years he was promoted to supervisor, where he remained for fifteen years. At the end of that stint, he traded in his blue collar for a suit and tie and has been an effective sales distributor until the end of his time here. He excelled in every position he has held here, and more importantly has had a profound impact on all his co-workers. We know he has all sorts of travel plans, leisure time, and of course grandchildren time ahead of him and we wish him well in all his future endeavors. He will be truly missed by all of us here.
Câu 74: Where does this introduction take place?

As a U.S. citizen struggling to work my way through college in the face of ever-increasing tuition costs, I find it appalling that federal legislation has been proposed that would grant undocumented immigrants the luxury of paying instate tuition. I was born and raised in the USA. I pay taxes, and my yearly earnings are not enough to live on decently. However, I seem to be making too much money to obtain financial aid. I would like to hear one reason lawmakers believe tax dollars from hard-working American citizens should subsidize collegetuition funds for undocumented immigrants.

Dressing up as a baseball player won't get you into the owner's box at Oriole Park at Camden Yards any more than wearing a general's uniform will gain you admission to the White House. So the fact that the Transportation Security Administration has lost track of more than 3,700 uniforms and security badges over the past five years isn't necessarily a grave security great to the nation. But it's not exactly inspiring confidence in the TSA or the Department of Homeland Security __(1)__
Agency __(2)__ are quick to point out that the TSA uniform and an ID card by themselves won't get anyone into sensitive areas of an airport. If travelers are left __(3)__ TSA's competence and judgment, the agency's plan to sell advertising on the trays that are used at security checkpoints could provide the final straw. Clearly, somebody must have decided that weary travelers aren't put upon enough while waiting for the metal detectors and X-ray machines. Now, propriety can be assaulted, too.

When trying to get a new job...
will Employers Verify Employment?
One of the questions I go asked quite often h what type of information employers will ask for when they verify my previous employment or check my references. The question often correlates to the broader question of 'Are they going to catch me if I fudge my dates of employment or my job title or the salary I was earning?'
Will Employers Cheek?
The answer is that it depends... It depends no how much verification the employer does during is hiring process. Some employers will confirm, very thoroughly, every detail of your resume or application. Others may do a cursory check or none at all. So, the problem with stretching the truth or embellishing your resume (other than that it's lying) is that there is a chance that you'll get caught, either now or at some point in the future. If you do get caught, you won't get the job or, if you've already been hired, you might get fired.
Câu 161: What is a commonly asked question?
Câu 162: What does the word "embellishing" mean in the second paragraph?
Câu 163: What will employers check?

Fitness author Bob Greene has been a personal trainer and consultant for 17 years. His moat notable client and open admirer is Oprah Winfrey, who has written the foreword to Greene's latest book "The Best Life Diet"
Q: With all this book and magazine writing and book touring and radio-show hosting and TV appearances, when do you find time to exercise?
A: I just finished. No matter what I'm doing in my life, no matter what crazy hours I have to keep, I fit in a workout. I'm the one jumping rope or running up and down the stairs at the hotel in the middle of the night. You might think it's neurotic, but I feel so much better. It's like a coffee drinker who needs that morning cup,
Q: What is the single most important thing a person starting a diet should do?
A: Be conscious of what, how much and how often you eat. Ask yourself how often you use food for something other than nutrition
Q: Initial weight loss is tough, but maintenance is a bigger, ongoing hurdle. How dooes a realistic person day motivated?
A: You have to focus on a desire to improve your life overall. The people who lose a lot of weight and have maintained that weight for five years all had some revelation about their lives:
-- I sleep better, my relationships are better, I'm more motivated al work. The other side of that is self-destuctive. The people who struggle the most feel they don't deserve to be happy or loved

Breaking conventions is nearly a convention in and of itself for artists. Nonetheless, Carol Roshon's style is as unique as it comes. She photographs lively scenes with black and white film and then hand paints her images with oil colors.
Her works are on display at the Albion Art Museum starting October 18 until the end of the month. None are for sale directly; however, if you are interested in purchasing a piece speak to a curator at the museum.

Federal Aviation Administration Inspections
The Federal Aviation Administration grounded scores of planes manufactured before 1975 for inspections to fuel pump wiring.
